The Atlanta Falcons are 2-7, but coach Mike Smith is safe.

The Falcons have no intentions of changing coaches following a CBS report attaching Jone Gruden's name to the job, according to Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff.

“Mike Smith is a hell of a football coach; he's the leader of this team,” Dimitroff told ESPN. “Mike's going nowhere.”

Smith was 56-24 heading into this season and is a former Associated Press Coach of the Year. He was signed to a three-year contract extension in 2011.

“Any time there's insinuation toward an organization that we believe in, it's agitating, sure,” Dimitroff said.

In fairness, the Falcons did lose star wide receiver Julio Jones for the season.
