Atlanta Falcons running back Jason Snelling was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana following a traffic stop, according to the Barrow County News.

“We are aware of the situation concerning Jason Snelling and are in the process of gathering additional information," the team said in a statement released to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "Because this is an on-going legal matter, we will have no further comment at this time.”

According to the report, Snelling was swerving in and out of his lane while driving a black Lincoln Navigator.

The arresting officer noticed a “a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.”

Snelling told the officer he had been smoking marijuana, according to the police report.

“I asked Mr. Snelling if there was any other marijuana in the vehicle, and he told me that there was a grinder in the center console of the vehicle and that it had a little bit of marijuana left in it,” the report stated. "I searched the vehicle and located a metal grinder where Mr. Snelling had said it was.”

Per the report, Snelling had green leafy particles inside his mouth, but denied eating the marijuana.

Snelling was charged with possession of marijuana,  possession of drug related materials, expired or no driver’s license, failure to maintain lane, failure to maintain insurance, improper use of dealer license plate and no registration.
