At long last, Osi Umenyiora is a member of the Atlanta Falcons.
The club began to fill its need for pass rush help by signing Umenyiora to a two-year contract, first reported by Jay Glazer of Fox Sports. Umenyiora, who had six sacks last season, has been rumored to be going to the Falcons for some time and it finally happened Wednesday.
The two-time Super Bowl champion as a member of the New York Giants, Umenyiora effectively replaces John Abraham, who was released in a cost-cutting move. But adding Umenyiora alone will not take the Falcons defensive front to where it needs to be. Look for the team to prioritize a defensive end in the draft next month.
