Minnesota Vikings star quarterback Brett Favre has confirmed that he underwent ankle surgery Friday morning in Gulf Breeze, Fla.
"This is to confirm that I did have a procedure to remove some scar tissue and bone spurs from my ankle which had been bothering me for a period of time," Favre wrote on his official website. "I appreciate your concerns. Thanks, Brett."
ESPN reported that Dr. James Andrews conducted the surgery.
Per their report, he'll need four to six weeks to recover.
It's unclear when Favre will report for work, but he's expected to play this season.
It will be the 20th NFL season for the former NFL Most Valuable Player.
