The Minnesota Vikings have announced on their Web site that Brett Favre will take his first snaps of the season in practice this afternoon.
Favre arrived on Tuesday after a dramatic summer in which he told some teammates that he was hanging ’em up. Instead of sending coach Brad Childress down to pluck him off his lawn tractor, the Vikings flew three veteran players to Mississippi on Monday to talk to Favre.
It worked and now he will be in uniform. According to Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, he expects Favre to get a series or two of action when the Vikings play at San Francisco on Sunday in their second preseason game. That would be a primer for a longer outing Aug. 28 when the Vikings host Seattle in the third preseason game, the dress rehearsal for the regular season.
But who knows? Maybe Favre doesn’t want to make that long flight to San Francisco this weekend?
