Female kicker's tryout cut short by injury

Lauren Silberman, the first woman to try out for an NFL team via a Regional Combine at the New York Jets training facility, had her dreams dashed by an injury.

Per Mike Garafalo of USA Today, Silberman, a former soccer player trying her luck as a kicking prospect, aggravated a quadriceps injury on her first kick, which traveled just 16 yards. A second kick went just 14 yards and after that, she asked to see a trainer because of the injury.

While Silberman was an extreme long shot, the fact that she was the first female to try out for an NFL team is still of notable significance.
