New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski will need a fourth surgery on his broken forearm, according to the Boston Herald.

The latest procedure will be to place a new plate around the forearm in order to help with the healing process.

Gronkowski broke the forearm last season, then returned for the playoffs and re-broke the forearm early in the game. He had a third surgery due to an infection in the forearm. Doctors are now using antiobiotics to try and flush out the remaining infection from the tissue, but the report indicates a fourth surgery to change the plate is inevitable and a fifth surgery not out of the question.

There are now doubts as to whether Gronkowski will be ready by the time the Patriots open the season in September.
