Frank Gore batters Seahawks, picks up bruised ribs

Frank Gore paid a bit of a price for the pounding he put on the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday night.

The San Francisco 49ers running back did not finish the game, leaving midway through the fourth quarter with what Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area reported was bruised ribs. Gore had X-rays following the game and they did not show any fractures.

Gore rushed for 131 yards on 16 carries in the 13-6 victory over the Seahawks, and he also caught five passes for 51 yards when Seattle’s secondary was bottling up the passing game on the outside.

"I kind of got speared, hit in the back on a check down back in the second quarter," Gore said, according to the report. "It was a good hit, good play by Seattle.

"I'll be all right. Coach just wanted to be smart. We've got a long season and a tough road down the stretch. We've got another division game. We wanted to be smart. We have other great backs, Kendall Hunter, Brandon Jacobs, Anthony Dixon who does positive things to help our team. He just wanted to be smart and I just listened to him."
