Veteran Dwight Freeney will visit the San Diego Chargers today, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The Chargers in need of help at outside linebacker after Melvin Ingram tore the ACL in his left knee on Tuesday.

Freeney is a 4-3 defensive end by trade, and was an outstanding pass rusher for many years with the Indianapolis Colts in that scheme, but he moved to outside linebacker last year when the Colts switched to a 3-4 system.

Chargers general manager Tom Telesco, who came from Indy, of course, is very familiar with Freeney, so  the move might be a natural fit.
