*Only the Rams claimed Titus Young when the Lions waived him, but many teams did their homework on him anticipating the receiver would be available. This is what one team found: They loved the player’s potential, citing Young’s explosiveness, suddenness, and ability to separate. But they said he lacked strength and was on the trainer’s table too much. They questioned his work ethic. And then they didn’t like the fact that he was defiant, untrustworthy, not accountable, immature and not respected by teammates.

*Chiefs players now are starting to exhale. “If you were there during the Pioli-Haley regime you felt you couldn't talk, voice an opinion or say that you were hurt,” said one older player. “We had a meeting once were Todd Haley asked us to voice are concern. *The Super Bowl champion Ravens will have some interesting roster decisions to make given their salary cap restraints. One front office man who has been studying their roster believes general manager Ozzie Newsome will find a way to retain inside linebacker Dannell Ellerbe, safety Ed Reed and of course quarterback Joe Flacco. That means among those who could play elsewhere next year are defensive end Paul Kruger, cornerback Cary Williams and offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie.

*Chargers owner Dean Spanos wanted to go younger in his front office across the board to set a foundation for the next decade. He wants a peer group in place that can speak the same language, openly communicate, share ideas and opinions in the best interest of the team. Tom Telesco, 40, Mike McCoy, 40, John Spanos, 33, and A.G. Spanos, 31, should have a lot in common and are being handed the organizational reigns. Word is Dean Spanos wanted a fresh energy in the Chargers office.
