Former first-round pick will compete for backup spot with Bills. Terry McCormick
Vince Young apparently has a fan in Chan Gailey.
And that's good news for the suddenly well-traveled Young who joined his third team in three seasons by signing a one-year contract with the Buffalo Bills.
He’s done some great things,” Gailey told the Bills website. ”(Buddy Nix) thought that was a great guy for us to bring in because we’ve talked all along about wanting to continually try to bring in guys who can compete for jobs. And he can compete for a job. I’m looking forward to working with him.
“He’s got a great arm. When he worked out here, he threw it very well. Everybody knows his mobility. He brings you that, and he’s won football games in the NFL. That’s another positive.”
The job Young will compete for, however, won't be the one held by starter Ryan Fitzpatrick, as Nix indicated Friday that VY would battle Tyler Thigpen for the No. 2 spot on the Bills quarterback depth chart.
