Bon Jovi and Kid Rock are going to show up Friday at the New Meadowlands Stadium to rock out before thousands of their loyal fans.
Those who show up will see what there is left of the old Giants Stadium. Maybe nothing by then. The Bergen Record reports that the whole thing could be gone by then. There isn’t much left standing right now. Only two escalator runs remain. They are vertical escalators leading nowhere as the final pieces of the stadium itself have already been removed. The escalator runs could be history by Friday.
Per the report, 85 percent of the material from Giants Stadium has been recycled, an impressive figure for those interested in a green stadium project. The plan now is for temporary paving of new parking lots to be done by mid-August, a couple weeks ahead of schedule. There are expected to be 28,500 parking spots at the new facility, 1,000 more than initially projected.
