Giants cut Rusty Smith

The New York Giants released former Tennessee Titans quarterback Rusty Smith.

The Giants also waived linebacker Allen Bradford, cornerback Junior Mertile and punter Jordan Gay.

The Giants signed the following free agents: defensive tackles Kelcy Quarles of South Carolina and Eathyn Manumaleuna of BYU, end Kerry Wynn of Richmond, linebacker Justin Anderson of Louisiana-Lafayette and safety Thomas Gordon of Michigan.

The Giants have starter Eli Manning under contract as well as reserves Ryan Nassib, Josh Freeman and Curtis Painter.

The former Florida Atlantic standout has completed 23 of 45 career passes for 234 yards, no touchdowns and four interceptions.

In his lone NFL start against the Houston Texans, where he completed 17 of 31 passes for 138 yards and three interceptions.

In college, Smith set records with 768 completions, 10,112 passing yards and 76 touchdown passes.
