An honest assessment from an NFL owner, a dig at a rival team or a little bit of both?
You can decide with the comments New York Giants co-owner Steve Tisch made to TMZ on Sunday night after leaving a restaurant in Los Angeles. Tisch was asked about – what else – free agent quarterback Tim Tebow.
“You know, I feel badly for the guy,” Tisch said, according to TMZ. “Had another team picked him up after the Broncos, maybe he’d have a career. I think him going from the Broncos to the Jets was not in anybody’s best interest. So I do feel badly for him. I hope he plays football. I think he’s got talent, I think he’s probably a decent guy and not a bad quarterback. So I wish him all the best. I sincerely wish him all the best.”
Tisch, of course, didn’t say the Giants would offer Tebow a roster spot and his team certainly wasn’t in business with the Broncos when they were seeking to unload the former Heisman Trophy winner from Florida. Right now, it looks like Tebow could be without an NFL team this season. We haven’t really heard a peep out of anyone interested in giving him a shot.
