The New York Giants have ruled wide receiver Hakeem Nicks out for Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns.
Nicks is dealing with swelling in his knee, an injury he suffered at the end of the team’s Week 2 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He’s missed the last two games and coach Tom Coughlin has acknowledged that swelling has been an issue, according to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News.
Nicks has also had some foot soreness from the surgery he underwent in summer. Per the report, Nicks has not practiced for a week since last Thursday. Coughlin said he hopes Nicks will be able to get on the field beginning Wednesday in advance of the team’s game at San Francisco on Oct. 14.
The Giants don’t get any help with the bye week as it does not come until Week 11, the final week the NFL has teams off in the schedule. If the bye was coming up soon, that would give Nicks more opportunity to rest.
