The winless New York Giants are on the verge of acquiring Carolina Panthers linebacker Jon Beason in exchange for a late-round draft pick, according to multiple reports.

As long as he passes the physical Friday, the trade will become official.

Beason had microfracture knee surgery last year.

Beason has been replaced by Chase Blackburn in the starting lineup in Carolina.

Beason is a three-time Pro Bowl selection who tore his Achilles tendon in 2011.
