Gio Bernard could see more reps as slot WR
Bengals running back Gio Bernard flashed his explosiveness on the field as a rookie in 2013.
Now, the Bengals are looking to expand his role within offensive coordinator Hue Jackson's scheme. According to a report form the Cincinnati Enquirer, Bernard could see more reps as a slot receiver in 2014, adding to his ability to create mismatches in the open field.
It's a role he seems ready to embrace.
"If I get the ball I'm always happy," Bernard told The Enquirer. "I can't complain to be able to make a play no matter where it's from, no matter if it's in the backfield or if it's out wide."
Bernard saw quite a few looks as a receiver out of the backfield a year ago. He caught 56 passes for 514 yards and three touchdowns.
