Though the Bengals will be without Geno Atkins the remaining of the season, they avoided what could've been another serious injury.
According to a report from NFL.com, running back Gio Bernard's rib injury, sustained in the fourth quarter of Thursday's 22-20 loss to Miami, is not serious. Bernard should be ready to play next week when the Bengals play the Ravens.
Bernard has come on strong of late, which includes Thursday's performance that saw him run for two touchdowns. His second touchdown was one of the best runs of the 2013 season.
Bernard broke two potential tackles on the right side of the field and cut back against the grain to the left before turning his footing upfield and dodging more Dolphins defenders en route to the end zone.
