Titans quarterback was involved in strip club altercation Aaron Wilson
In the wake of his misdemeanor assault citation stemming from an altercation at a Dallas strip club that was caught on surveillance video, Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young is expected to meet with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell within the next few weeks.
Goodell told FOX Sports that Young is unlikely to be suspended because he's a first-time criminal offender.
Under the NFL personal-conduct policy, Goodell tends to suspend multiple violators.
Young's incident can be regarded as damaging to the reputation of the league, which is one of Goodell's criteria for doling out punishments.
“I think you have to look at these cases individually and understand them in a way of what are the issues going on with any individual," Goodell said. "The intent of the policy is to intervene so you help some individuals make a better decision and avoid these troubles. So when I sit down and look at all the facts around Vince or any other player, you want to make sure they understand that and what the policy was designed to do and more importantly understand the responsibility."
So, if Young is appropriately contrite when he meets with Goodell and doesn't have any other off-field issues, then he's likely to escape a suspension.
A fine shouldn't be ruled out, though.
