Griffin runs 4.38 in the 40-yard dash

INDIANAPOLIS _ Robert Griffin III left little doubt that not only is he one of the best quarterbacks available in the 2012 draft, but he is also one of the best athletes, period.

Griffin, in his first attempt on the 40-yard dash on Sunday at the NFL Combine, ran a blazing 4.41 time. He then bettered that with a 4.38 minutes later. That's a time that probably most of the running backs, wide receivers and defensive backs would like to run, much less a quarterback.

Griffin probably still will go behind Andrew Luck in the draft, but it sure leaves the St. Louis Rams sitting in a good spot at No. 2, to be able to dangle the possibility of allowing a quarterback-needy team to deal for Griffin in exchange for a package of picks.

The 2011 Heisman winner's time in the 40 certainly didn't hurt the notion that he is the best overall athlete available in this draft.
