Jay Cutler, a Pro Bowl performer last season in Denver, is the Bears' quarterback. But the results in Chicago, so far, are eerily similar.
Rex Grossman's father came out firing Monday when asked to assess the Bears' offensive woes with Cutler, compared with the checkered Chicago career of his son.
Dan Grossman, an ophthalmologist in Bloomington, Ind., cited the Bears' long history of futility at quarterback. He emphasized he did not want to come off sounding like your typical disgruntled parent but as an objective observer who bases his comments on Bears history and facts.
"Anybody who wants to dispute that ... all they can be labeled as is idiots," Grossman said.
Cutler has thrown 17 interceptions in the first nine games, including five Thursday night in San Francisco. Rex Grossman is now a backup for the Texans.
"And there is a reason that Rex went to Houston late (June 12, 2009), in my opinion. It was because of all the baggage he had to carry coming out of Chicago," Dan Grossman said. "People were a little leery. The general managers were leery."
Well i don't know,I think Grossman was thrown under the bus a little early. He had potential and the mechanics. He also played in a superbowl. I know he made alot of mistakes but come on he didn't have any recievers and we really didn't try to make a playbook for his capabilities. We had a better Offensive line when Rex was here. But before Grossman was playing here we couldn't even complete a pass down field. We had a baseball player playing QB.Chad Hutchenson. We did do all right with Orton in 2005 but no deep ball threat. I still wish we had Orton too.
