Giants just resting his foot before opener Brad Biggs
Hakeem Nicks did not practice today but the New York Giants wide receiver continues to say he expects to play Wednesday night when the defending Super Bowl champions open their season.
Nicks rested for the second consecutive day, according to the Newark Star-Ledger, and said it’s because the team does not want to expose his surgically repaired foot to extra reps at this point.
"It feels fine," Nicks said. "There should be no problem come gametime. I should be ready to go."
Nicks played in the Giants’ final preseason game and has progressed nicely since the injury in the spring.
"I just wanted to get my feet back up under me a little bit," Nicks said. "I got 10 plays in (vs. the Patriots in the preseason game). I kind of wanted to see how it would feel on that harder turf after being out here on grass. I got the feel a little bit so I kind of know what to expect. But this game it'll be about 60 plays instead of 10.”
Sounds like everything will be just fine for Nicks.
