Hall of Fame class: Strahan, Brooks, Reed, Guy, Humphrey, Williams, Jones

Hall of Fame class named Aaron Wilson

New York Giants defensive end Michael Strahan, Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Derick Brooks and Seattle Seahawks offensive tackle Walter Jones headline the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2014.

The other selections were Buffalo Bills wide receiver Andre Reed, Arizona Cardinals cornerback Aeneas Williams, Atlanta Falcons defensive end Claude Humphrey and punter Ray Guy.

Jones and Brooks were in their first year of eligibility. Guy and Humphrey were finalists chosen by the Hall of Fame Seniors Committee.

Brooks is a former NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

Jones was a nine-time Pro Bowl selection.

Reed was a seven-time Pro Bowl selection who played in four Suepr Bowls..

Strahan is the NFL single-season record holder with 22.5 sacks in 2001. He ranks fifth all-time with 141.5 sacks. He has drawn criticism from fellow Hall of Fame defensive lineman Warren Sapp.

Williams was an eight-time Pro Bowl selection who intercepted 55 career passes, returning nine for touchdowns.

Guy is the first punter selected to the Hall of Fame.

Humphre is a former NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year who recorded 122 career sacks.

Passed over after making the finalist list: Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jerome Bettis, Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Marvin Harrison, Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker-defensive end Kevin Greene, Dallas Cowboys defensive end Charles Haley  and Kansas City Chiefs offensive guard Will Shields.

Not making the cut to the final 10: former San Francisco 49ers owner Eddie DeBartolo, Oakland Raiders wide receiver Tim Brown, Denver Broncos and Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety John Lynch, former Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy and New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons kicker Morten Andersen.

Eligible for the first time next year: linebacker Junior Seau, quarterback Kurt Warner, wide receivers Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce, offensive tackle Orlando Pace and running back Edgerrin James.
