WESTMINSTER, Md. -- When he became head coach of the Baltimore Ravens last year, John Harbaugh wanted to shed the team's reputation as a defense-first, offensively challenged unit.
That didn't quite work out when the team reached the AFC Championship Game powered largely by its second-ranked defense. The offense finished 18th, which improved four spots from the Ravens' 2007 performance but fell short of the "great offense" Harbaugh said he wanted to develop.
As training camp kicked off the for 2009 Ravens, Harbaugh hasn't yielded. Great defense is not what he wants his team to be about. "Our identity," Harbaugh said, "is our team.
