Jim Harbaugh is not concerned Randy Moss will become bored now that he is out of retirement with the San Francisco 49ers.
Moss has taken a secondary role in the passing game behind tight end Vernon Davis and emerging star Michael Crabtree. He caught just one pass for 14 yards in the victory over the Detroit Lions on Sunday night, although he had a touchdown and four receptions in the season-opening win at Green Bay.
Of course, Moss isn’t talking himself. He is notorious for refusing to follow the guidelines of the NFL’s media policy.
“Nobody around here ever gets caught up with 'The Guy' terminology," Harbaugh said, according to Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle. "It's about us; it's about the team. And Randy, there's no evidence that he's concerned about 'The Guy' tag. He knows football. He knows the team that plays best is going to win the game. He's been about that."
Maybe the 49ers will look to make Moss “The Guy” this Sunday as the 49ers play at Minnesota where he starred for eight seasons earlier in his career. If there is a coach that can manage Moss, it might be Harbaugh. So far, so good anyway.
