The Carolina Panthers added Chase Blackburn for depth at linebacker last week and now first-year general manager Dave Gettelman is taking a close look at another player he is familiar with from his time in New York.
The Panthers will host wide receiver Domenik Hixon on a free-agent visit today, according to Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer. Hixon spent the previous five seasons with the Giants and caught 39 passes for 567 yards last season.
The Panthers are looking to sign a third wide receiver at this point and it is a position Carolina is likely to address in the draft later this month. The Panthers need to add some youth and talent to a position headlined by aging veteran Steve Smith.
According to the report, Hixon has also generated interest from Oakland, where he visited last week, as well as Cleveland and Pittsburgh.
