Receiver thought to have broken rib, but x-ray reveals no fracture. Terry McCormick
New York Jets receiver Santonio Holmes left Saturday night's scrimmage with what was thought to be a broken rib.
However, according to the Newark Star-Ledger, Holmes avoided that worst-case scenario and does not have a fracture, though he could miss a few days of practice with lingering soreness.
Holmes was drilled by Antonio Cromartie on a reception. Perhaps Cromartie, who has been crowing about the possibility of playing receiver for the Jets, will get a chance since he has put one of the team's top receiving options on the shelf temporarily.
