With any luck it will be a much healthier offseason for Hakeem Nicks
The New York Giants wide receiver suffered a fractured right foot last spring that got his entire year off to an ominous start.
According to Jenny Vrentas of the Newark Star-Ledger, that injury could have led to a left knee injury in Week 2 of the regular season that more or less lingered with him for the remainder of the year. While Nicks only missed three games with knee/foot ailments, he wasn’t the same reliable target for quarterback Eli Manning.
Nicks has addressed the knee issue and had arthroscopic surgery, Giants coach Tom Coughlin announced on Friday. Center David Baas has also undergone surgery but it’s unclear exactly what type.
Injuries were only one of the contributing factors to a poor season for the Giants last year. They will need to be healthier to mount another deep postseason run.
