Houston to make pitch for Super Bowl LI

The City of Houston and Harris County are planning to bring the Super Bowl back to Reliant Stadium for 2017.

Plans for the proposal were revealed to the Houston Chronicle to bring the Super Bowl back to Houston for the first time since 2004. The Super Bowl that Houston is in pursuit of would be Super Bowl LI (51).

Edgar Colon, chairman of the entity that oversees Reliant Stadium, said the city and county will make a strong push to bring the game back to Houston.

“That is something that is coming up. It’s in the calendar,” Colon said. “(That is) the next one that is up for bid and we intend to participate and to participate forcefully and aggressively to bring the Super Bowl to Houston.”
