The Arizona Cardinals have a little more than a week remaining to carve out a new deal for Levi Brown or risk losing their left tackle.
Brown has one year remaining on his rookie contract but he is due to count a whopping $17 million against the team’s salary cap, a figure that makes it prohibitive for him to remain without a reworked deal.
Jason La Canfora of NFL Network reports that Brown will likely be released if a new contract cannot be reached. That would make Brown one of the more attractive free agents on the market and probably the top left tackle available in free agency.
Brown, 27, probably isn’t considered an elite player but he’s been solid and has experience. Those types of left tackles at his age aren’t readily available.
