Hugh Douglas pleading no contest to misdemeanor

Former NFL defensive end and ESPN analyst Hugh Douglas is expected to plead guilty to a misdemeanor case involving accusations of him allegedly assaulting his girlfriend in Connecticut.

Douglas was initially facing felony assault and strangulation charges

His lawyer, Corey Brinson, told The Associated Press that Douglas will instead plead to a lesser charge of breach of peace.

"I expect Monday to be his last day at court," Brinson said.

Douglas was accused of slamming the woman against a wall and grabbing her by the neck.

A former NFL Defensive Rookie of the year, Douglas said the injuries stemmed from "rough sex."

Douglas is free on $50,000 bail.
