Illinois Wide Receiver Arrelious Benn

Arrelious Benn: No. 9, WR, 6-2, 220

A strong, physically built wideout who has the ability to win as a blocker on the outside, Benn can help create run lanes for backs downfield. He's a powerful route runner who picks up speed and is tough to knock off balance once he gets going. He possesses impressive body control as a route runner and does a nice job disguising his routes when driving corners up the field and cleanly getting out of his breaks. Benn lets the ball get into his body too often. But he's a load to bring down after the catch and does a great job breaking initial tackles and creating in the open field.

Yet for a guy his size, he isn't overly physical when asked to beat press coverage and doesn't consistently slip the bump and get into his routes quickly. He lacks ideal awareness off the snap and too often allows corners to get into his body. He lacks elite vertical speed and isn't a guy who can simply run by defenders down the field. His skill set is reminiscent of Arizona Cardinals wideout Anquan Boldin, but he lacks the same type of feel in the pass game that Boldin has.

Grade: 6.8
