Derrell Johnson-Koulianos, Iowa’s career leader in receptions and receiving yards, is being held in Johnson County Jail Tuesday evening after being arrested on multiple counts of possession of controlled substances, keeping a drug house and two counts of unlawful possession of a prescription drugs.
He is being held on $8,000 bail and is expected to make an initial court appearance Wednesday morning.
The first-team all-Big Ten selection caught 46 passes for 745 yards and 10 TDs this season.
The 23-year-old Hawkeye and 21-year-old roommate Brady Cooper Johnson were taken into custody around 1:50 p.m. Tuesday after officers executed a search warrant as part of a drug investigation. Investigators found more than $3,000 in cash, marijuana, cocaine and prescription drugs in the house.
Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz issued the following statement Tuesday night:
“I am highly disappointed to learn of the charges. Derrell has been suspended from all team activities.”
