Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio could be on the move.
The University of Southern California sent Del Rio a contract on Monday night to become the next head coach of the Trojans, according to Scott Wolf of the L.A. Daily News.
The job became available when former boss Pete Carroll jumped ship to take the head coaching gig for the Seattle Seahawks. Del Rio is one of several candidates whose name has been popping up the last few days in connection with the USC job.
The intriguing part of this story is what happens next for Del Rio? If he heads to USC, he’ll be giving up over $15 million in salary from the Jaguars.
But do the Jaguars want to keep him?
As our own Michael Lombardi reported recently, Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver “is not happy with how his coach treats people, his work ethic, his involvement in the community and the franchise.”
So if Weaver is unhappy and Del Rio wants to leave, should we expect to see the two parties get together to discuss a settlement?
