Cleveland Browns rookie defensive end Jabaal Sheard is staying ready for whenever the NFL lockout ends.
“I’m just staying in the best shape I can,” Sheard told the Canton Repository. “I just try to stay in contact with the veterans. I talk to Scott Fujita a lot. I’m basically unemployed right now, with no income. Saving money is big ... not that I have any.”
The Browns are expected to start Sheard immediately, inserting the former Big East Conference Defensive Player of the Year to boost the pass rush.
“I don’t know a lot,” Sheard said. “I just know it’s a 4-3, and I have a basic knowledge of the 4-3. I think it will be a smooth transition."
