Jacksonville Jaguars veteran cornerback Rashean Mathis is a no-show at the team's voluntary organized team activity because he's displeased with his contract.

And that absence has drawn the ire of coach Jack Del Rio.

Del Rio is taking a hard-line stance about  Mathis skipping the practice.

Del Rio confirmed that Mathis called him ahead of time to let him know he wouldn't be there, and he confirmed that the matter is contract-related.

“We expect 100 percent participation and we expect the best you can do every day,” Del Rio said in remarks distributed by the team. “Part of being dedicated is making sure you’re here and arrive early. We had one guy who decided not to be here today. We’re all free to make choices. In the end, our choices lead to consequences. I’m not happy with it. I don’t support it."

Del Rio made it clear that the team's position on the situation is that Mathis is under contract and the team has no intention of giving him a new deal at this point.
