Jadeveon Clowney has had his detractors this draft season.
Plenty of analysts and punidts have come out to say that Clowney doesn't work hard enough or give enough effort during games. Clowney dismissed that notion in an interview with the Associated Press.
"I think I work just as hard as anybody," Clowney said. "If you pick me and pair me with guys, I'm going to try and outwork them also."
Clowney has the potential to be the first overall selection in the 2014 NFL draft in a couple of weeks. He possesses a rare combination of size, speed and athleticism, that's brought many in awe. Others have criticized his lack of fundamentals and heart on the field.
It's a bit presumptuous to assume Clowney isn't putting forth the necessary effort, especially if it's not seen day-to-day on a first-hand basis. Clowney was a terror at South Carolina for three years, totaling 47 tackles for loss and 27 sacks.
He may have only had three sacks in 2013, but that came in a season where he didn't play at 100 percent and saw double and triple teams all year. In the NFL, teams won't be able to commit their offensive blocking schemes to just one player.
