Jaguars place Gabbert, Robinson on IR

The Jacksonville Jaguars on Wednesday announced that starting quarterback Blaine Gabbert has been placed on injured reserve due to his left shoulder and right forearm injuries.

The Jaguars also announced that wide receiver Laurent Robinson, their biggest free agent acquisition in the off-season, has been placed on IR as well due to a concussion.

Losing Gabbert means that Chad Henne, who tossed four touchdown passes in a losing cause at Houston last week, will be the Jaguars starter now. Henne was signed as a free agent in the off-season to back up Gabbert, a 2011 first-round pick.

Henne played well enough on Sunday and Gabbert has played poorly enough in the team's 1-9 season that it certainly opens up the possibility that if Henne plays well for the remainder of the season, he could play himself into the starting job in 2013.
