New GM, coach say they are impressed thus far with quarterback. Terry McCormick
Blaine Gabbert's first two years in the NFL have been nothing to write home about, but new general manager David Caldwell and new head coach Gus Bradley appear committed to him - at least for now.
“That was his second year. What were they saying about other quarterbacks after their second year? We’re looking for improvement [in his third year]. We need to build around him. We’ll upgrade whenever we can upgrade," Caldwell told the Florida Times-Union.
Bradley visited with Gabbert and added, “He’s been very impressive so far in our conversations.’’
The Jaguars plan is to build through the draft to put more pieces in place around Gabbert. Then, it will be up to the 2011 first-round pick to show that faith is justified.
