Jason Avant realized quick that he wasn't a fit for Chip Kelly's offense in Philadelphia.

Early on, Kelly had different receivers begin to run the routes Avant normally ran. Speaking to the Charlotte Observer, Avant said Kelly had him running predominantly clear-out routes, with the possession target never a factor in catching passes.

“When it came to certain things, we butted heads sometimes – route running and route technique. So I knew I didn’t fit his system," Avant said.

Avant is now in his first season with the Panther, and the 31-year-old will look to continue his career catching passes from Cam Newton.

It's actually a solid situation for a player like Avant to be in because the receiving group is fairly young and inexperienced. Avant should be able to get quite a few targets thrown his way in 2014.
