Jeff Fisher says Rams’ Hard Knocks appearance unlikely

The St. Louis Rams aren't expecting to be forced by the NFL to appear on the Hard Knocks program even though they're one of the eight eligible teams to be appointed by the league.

The Rams already have the added media scrutiny of having openly gay seventh-round pick Michael Sam on the roster.

“I think it’s unlikely,” Rams coach Jeff Fisher told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “We are eligible, but I think it’s highly unlikely they’d ask us to do it. I think this organization has a right to go through training camp with some normalcy.”

Fisher is on the NFL competition committee, so he probably knows what he's talking about.

Who else is eligible? Arizona, Buffalo, Chicago, Jacksonville, the New York Giants, Oakland and Pittsburgh.

As for the Oprah Winfrey documentary series on Sam that was postponed indefinitely, Fisher said: "That thing settled down last week. We had a very productive meeting with the network. They understand our position; we understand theirs. We felt, and they collectively felt, the best thing to do was just to postpone it.”
