Jeff Fisher still mad at ESPN's Michael Sam showering report

ESPN issued an apology for airing a report about Rams defensive end Michael Sam showering in the organization's locker room.

For Rams coach Jeff Fisher, it's too little too late.

Speaking to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on Wednesday, Fisher expressed displeasure in the segment, in which ESPN's Josina Anderson relayed conversations she's had with Rams teammates about when Sam showers. ESPN has since apologiezed for the story.

"I'm extremely disappointed in her piece," Fisher said. "I think it's unethical. I think it's very, very unprofessional. Not only the piece itself, the content. The manner in which she did it."

Sam, drafted by St. Louis in the seventh round this past May, became the first openly gay athlete active in the NFL this offseason. Anderson's report can be viewed here.

Fisher is also upset that Anderson contacted these players away from the facility. Most NFL coaches would prefer for the media to interview players on site, though reporters are simply doing their jobs when reaching out to athletes away from team facilities.

But Fisher has a great point about ESPN overstepping its bounds by reporting on when and if Sam is showering at the facility. Why that's anyone's business has puzzled not only Fisher, but regular NFL fans around the country.

Fisher further questioned the motive of the report in the interview with the Post-Dispatch.

"She was out of line because she went and contacted several players on their personal time," Fisher said. "Misled them with questions and then put this piece together."
