Colts' player rep hopeful that deal gets done at last minute Aaron Wilson
As far as Indianapolis Colts center and player representative Jeff Saturday is concerned, a new collective bargaining agreement can be hammered out between the players' union and the owners.
To accomplished that goal, though, it's going to take some actual negotiations and less posturing, in Saturday's opinion.
"My hope is that everybody puts their egos down to the side and we get it dialed in," Saturday said. "I'm hoping there's pressure as fans and as people begin to say, 'Let's move this thing forward; we're tired of hearing about it,' that it brings more people to the table ready to get it done."
A lockout is expected in 2011 by NFL Players Association executive director DeMaurice Smith.
However, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell recently expressed confidence that a deal will ultimately get worked out.
"I think all the guys on the executive committee and involved in the NFLPA have a good attitude about it. Guys want to get it done," Saturday said. "We've just got to get it done. I feel like everybody's just like, 'Why are we negotiating now? What's the hurry? We have until next March.
"Let's just go play this season and see who balks first, who gets scared first.' I think all of us are going to wait until the end and then we'll have to get it done in a short amount of time. I think the best work gets done then."

The union rank and file needs to get more involved, leaving less decision-making to the NFLPA management. These people can develop their own agenda just like agents can, & do.
