Jerel Worthy's grandmother accidentally killed by husband

Packers defensive tackle Jerel Worthy and his family are dealing with a tragedy on Friday.

Late Thursday, his grandfather, James Worthy, was handling a firearm before it accidentally fired. A bullet traveled through a wall and struck his wife, Mae Worthy, killing her, according to the Dayton Daily News. The two had been married for 50 years.

One of the Worthys' daughters phoned 911, stating that James Worthy was beleived to be in a panic after the accident.

Authorities are reportedly debating whether there are any illegal firearm handling laws that were broken in this instance.
