New Orleans Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey was held out of the team’s minicamp practice today but coach Sean Payton said it had nothing to do with his seizure-like collapse a week ago in the team’s workout facility.
Shockey’s back was acting up and he was given the practice off as a precaution, according to the Twitter account of Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Saints coach Sean Payton also said that while Shockey’s health scare a week ago was seizure-like, it was not a seizure.
Per Duncan, Payton announced that tests on Shockey came back positive. It’s is believed Shockey had low blood sugar and was dehydrated and that he fainted. Whatever the case, he was not on the field earlier today and he has a well defined history of durability issues.
