Jerricho Cotchery to join the Panthers

Pittsburgh Steelers free agent wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery has agreed to a deal with the Carolina Panthers on Monday, according to his agency.

Cotchery could help the Panthers, who cut Steve Smith, who signed with the Baltimore Ravens, and Brandon LaFell, who signed with the New England Patriots.

Cotchery turned down the Steelers' offer to join the Panthers.

Cotchery, 31, caught a career-high 13 touchdown passes last season.

The Steelers could have used Cotchery back after losing Emmanuel Sanders to the Denver Broncos.
