The offseason that has been full of change on the Dallas Cowboys coaching staff was the doing of … Jason Garrett.

That is what owner Jerry Jones said in a video that was posted on the team’s Web site. From the outside, the perspective of the sweeping changes made at Valley Ranch has been much different.

But Jones, in a six-minute video, worked to dispel those notions. You know, the ones that he was the man pulling the strings.

“I saw things in our head coach that really give me a lot of promise for not only 2013 but for years to come,” Jones said, according to the Dallas Morning News. “I’m excited about Jason Garrett.”

Garrett (or Jones) has effectively made Bill Callahan the new play caller on offense. He’s also installed a new defense with Monte Kiffin running the show.

“He did the evaluations,” Jones said. “He basically said, ‘Jerry here’s who I want to get.’ This was a change of commitment. We had to honor the commitments we had in coaches, all of that ultimately ended up, frankly, being pretty expensive. But at the cost of, or the sacrifice of, not being able to improve, that was trite, in my mind.”
