Jets GM Idzik 'comfortable' with Sanchez on roster

John Idzik, the new general manger of the New York Jets, told WFAN in New York that he is comfortable with quarterback Mark Sanchez on the team's roster.

“Yeah, I’m comfortable with Mark being a Jet,” Idzik told the station Monday. “I told him as well, we’re going to add competition. … It’s going to help make Mark and everybody else better.”

Idzik is forced to be "comfortable" to a certain degree with Sanchez's contract containing an $8.25 million base salary that is guaranteed. Sort of like how you are "comfortable" with your house payment, because even if it's way more than you would like it to be, it has to be paid, because it's a better option than living in the street.

Sanchez struggled with 18 interceptions and eight lost fumbles in 2012 and was even benched after a pitiful four-interception performance against Tennessee in December, only to regain the job when Greg McElroy was injured the following week.
