New York Jets linebacker Bart Scott issued a very loud denial to the claim by former Jets running back LaDainian Tomlinson that he and defensive back Antonio Cromartie might be the anonymous critics of Tim Tebow.

“That can’t be farther from the truth,” Scott told The New York Post. “One thing about me is I ain’t ever hid behind [junk] that I’ve ever said. I’m not afraid to put my name to it, go to a person and say it to them.”

One Jets players was quoted anonymously in the New York Daily News saying Tebow was "terrible," and other players were hardly complimentary of the second-team quarterback either. The comments have set off a firestorm of distractions for a Jets team that team that was already having a tumultuous season at 3-6.

Meanwhile, Cromartie remained silent, turning up the volume on is iPod dock.

Scott continued to rant about the comments and the accusations toward him.

“I’ve been here four years,” Scott said. “It’s always an anonymous source. An anonymous source can be the janitor. An anonymous source can be the cable guy. An anonymous source can be the equipment guy. Anybody can be an anonymous source. If you don’t tell them to put their name to it, what credibility do you have?

“I think the anonymous person is probably some smoke in the air or a fart off somebody’s [butt].”
