The New York Jets cut former Pro Bowl fullback Tony Richardson on Saturday, but will bring him back before the first game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Jets coach Rex Ryan indicated that Richardson will be back on the team before nextMonday night.
Richardson, 38, was due an $855,000 base salary, but it's not guaranteed for the entire year now.
“We’re bringing T-Rich back on the active roster," Ryan said. "He’ll play against Baltimore. I just said, ‘Let’s get him in quick.’ The thing is we felt pretty confident we could get T-Rich back. We had to get this deal done quick, so that’s what we did.”
The Jets also have impressive rookie fullback John "The Terminator" Conner on the roster.
The Jets have placed rookie cornerback Brian Jackson on waivers and received a roster exemption for cornerback Darrelle Revis.
